Shruti Haasan Slams Body-Shamers, Says What She Does With Her Body Is Her Business
Shruti Haasan piled on kilos to look every inch a Punjabi girl for her upcoming film, Behen Hogi Teri, opposite Rajkummar Rao. Unfortunately, beauty-obsessed trolls did not spare and criticised her not only for the ‘extra’ weight but also for an alleged lip job.

However, during one of the promotional interviews, the actress hit back at the haters and said what people write about her on social media does not bother her.

"It’s my face, my body. What I do with it is nobody’s business. What people write about me on social media does not bother me. I am not answerable to anyone. Looking good is part of our job, but the unnecessary chatter about weight must be filtered. Maintaining an ‘acceptable’ figure for an actress is impossible. We are human. We gain and lose weight for roles and sometimes naturally too.”

Shruti recently made headlines for her quirky style statement at the Cannes Film Festival. The actress attended the prestigious event to promote her film, Sangamithra. However, she walked out of the film soon after she returned to India.

Her official statement said, "Shruti has, unfortunately, had to take a call not to be part of Sangamithra. Knowing it was a massive undertaking and a long commitment spanning over 2 years, she knew the importance of her training, a comprehensive script and proper date calendar. She hired and started training with one of best combat trainers April onwards to make sure she was ready in time for shoot. Despite her enthusiasm and commitment to Sangamithra, she has had to give the film a miss since she had not received a proper bound script nor a proper date calendar. She is currently caught up with promoting her Hindi film Behen Hogi Teri, prep for Sabash Naidu and her musical associations."
